Hello world. Hope you all had a great week. My time in Bogotá

was short but memorable. 

Bogotá is the capital and largest city in Colombia. A melting pot of people from around the country, it is diverse and multicultural, with a blend of modern and colonial architecture.

HISTORY

Greater Bogotá sits a refreshingly crisp 2600 meters (~8500 feet) above sea level—high on an Andean plateau—just west of the country’s center. It is home to more than eight million, which makes it the fourth largest city in the Americas (after São Paulo, Mexico City and New York). Once inhabited by an estimated half-million Muisca people, it became a focal point of the Spanish-American presence after being “settled” in 1538 (as Santa Fé de Bogotá), and as a result, a nexus of Old and New World cultures. Through the many iterations of the Colombian state over the centuries, Bogotá, as the consistent seat of inconsistent power, has remained the country’s dynamic cultural center—and a swirling blend of Spanish, indigenous, African and modern, cosmopolitan influence.

 I stayed at the W Bogotá. What a pitty that I stayed just for one night.  Amazing staff and the best service you can expect. One of the best W hotels I’ve stayed. Located in the upscale Santa Barbara neighborhood and close to über-hip Usaquen.

  I was welcomed by the hospitable staffs. The check in process was smooth and quite efficient. Got upgraded to “The Fantastic Suite” that overlooked the city of Bogota. 

I had the warmest welcome thanks to the W Insider, Jonathan. 

 The interior designs at the W Bogota present an amalgam of elegance and sensuality. The vibe throughout the property is electric. The hotel’s gorgeous, interesting aesthetic pays homage to the national culture yet adds a thoroughly modern twist: NYC-based architecture and interiors firm Studio Gaia drew inspiration from Colombia’s famous legend of El Rey Dorado (the golden king), splashing tasteful and modern gold elements just about everywhere. 

The rooms effortlessly incorporate one of Colombia’s main precious metals and a key element in Colombian culture, gold.

I decided to explore the rest of the hotel after wowing over my suite. The hotel’s on-site restaurant (Market Kitchen), bar (W Lounge) and nightclub (Au Room) are just as popular among fancy “rolos” (what Bogota locals call themselves) and the city’s cool, young visitors who fill its 168 rooms.

I had complementary drinks voucher, but since I don’t drink alcohol, the amazing bartender, German Diaz (middle) made an delicious smoothie instead. I had a short but fun chats with these two other staffs;Tatiana Gonzalez( left) and Amy Torres (right). They couldn’t believe I’ve never drunk alcohol. 

I had light lunch at the hotel’s restaurant before exploring Bogota. 

I honestly didn’t want to explore Bogota after checking into this stunning suite. If Bogota weren’t such an amazing city that needed to be explored, then I would have spent my entire time in the hotel. 

The food at Crepes & Waffles was really good. The desserts looks and taste good. 

I wanted to get in the hot-tub but realized there’s no one to relax in such gorgeous tub with and possibly create a mini traveller. lol. So I took pictures of my feet, took selfies, set my phone on timer,  and went to bed since I had an early flight back to the States the following day. 

Overall I really liked my short but memorable experience in Bogota thanks to the W hotel. I’d definitely consider returning to the W if I visited Bogota again.
